Raelene Tan has lived much of her life in South East Asia, where she has absorbed the various cultures that abound.

An Australian married to a Singaporean Chinese, Raelene is co-founder of The Cosmopolitan Women's Club in Singapore - for ladies who are partners in cross-cultural marriages.

Widely travelled, including government service in several countries, Raelene is an Etiquette Consultant and a Food & Travel Writer. She has been heard often on radio programmes and appeared in several television programmes, including BBC World. She and her architect husband, who have two adult children, are featured in a video at one of Singapore's museums, with the focus on cross-cultural family life.

Her Etiquette Classes are popular with business executives, diplomats, students, housewives and all who aspire to gracious living. Conducted at boardrooms, clubs, schools, hotels and private residences, the tailor-made Classes cover Western, Chinese, Malay, Indian and Japanese etiquette, encompassing a broad spectrum of appropriate manners.

She has not only enjoyed taking afternoon tea at Buckingham Palace with English Royalty, but has also been invited to sail on the luxurious liner Queen Elizabeth 2 to observe the niceties of international cruising.

Presentations on English tea and on various ethnic festivals, occasions, customs and culture are also included in Raelene's repertoire.

She began her search into various culinary traditions when she lived in the heart of a traditional Chinese extended family home and found that culture shock was real - not in an environmental sense, but rather pertaining to table talk.

"Etiquette - A Matter Of Course", a series of four books covering Chinese, Indian & Malay, Western and Japanese table etiquette, is Raelene Tan's contribution to the art of enjoyable eating and gracious living.
